Mini upswing, poker gods liked me last night

I haven't had much chance to play the last 4 weeks or so, but managed an hour or so last night.
Was playing a little LAGgy.
Tried a squeeze play with J10o, and flopped an open ended straight draw and decided to play it aggro, bet and reraised the flop, ditto the turn. the one guy in the pot with me went to the river and was most aggrieved when the 9 came and made my straight VS his top pair crap kicker.
Then on another table I saw a flop for free in the BB with 65s and again decided to barrel every street as the board was pretty draw heavy and I was only against 1 player so thought I could represent quite a few hands. He called every bet and again spat his dummy when my flush on the river beat his 2 flopped 2 pair. His passive play cost him the hand as any bet from him would have sent me running, essentially the flop had a straight and a flush draw, the turn gave a second flush draw and yet he chose to call it down, then call a river overbet to double me up.

In no way do I think my play was optimal and each time I had to hit to win, but when these guys are so passive when you do hit it is soooo worth it!

is the tilt over?

Well I dropped quite a few more $$
Didnt eat into my starting BR and with the bonuses unlocked along the way I am still relatively ok.
However I had a reasonable session last night. Didnt make any of my "ah sod it" calls when I know I am well behind. Also didnt join into family pots with rag hands just because "I had the odds" That is an area where I excel in stacking off, half hit a flop with trash and can't let go. So I have stopped giving myself the opportuntiy.

I also took the time where I would normally be fishing around to actually watch some of the other players. Very entertaining when a guy pushed 3/4 of his stack with a 9 high flush only to be instacalled with a guy with the K high. Serves him right for calling with 69 PF Imo

A bit o'tilt

I may have lost focus a little...

Ok I may have lost a lot.
I have been steadily winning since my Jan "reset" but not this weekend.
Lost about 1/3 of what I had held on one poker site, mainly due to being over aggro and also not believing my reads.
Stuff like trying to push a rock off a pot after he had raised PF and then bet out on a K high flop. I held AQ, he held KK ldo.
BAsically no one to blame but me. Not the cards, not variance but me. (Well there was one or two beats but on the whole all down to muggins here)

Anyhow I get an email commiserating at my massive loss and offering me a $25 bonus if I redeposit. With the $25 being paid up front! Now obviously what this translates to is. Hey Fish! People like you are good for the site. You keep donating and keep our regs in coke and hookers.

SO I have taken the bait. Gonna have at least a day or two off though and try and get back into the game fresh..

So this is feb?

Snow outside! However not sufficient to stop me getting into work tomorrow morning. Bugger.
Apparently I will get some money this week, so that will be part payment for November. Suppose that is worth going in for.

Pokerwise, my graph has plateaued, mind you I have only played a few hours. A disastrous drop down to $2nl when bored led to a drop of a massive $6! The truth is that I cannot win against tables full of "bad players". Now before you howl at me, those are the players you want to play against! I have a small counter argument. The standard line is "they don't respect my raises" and "how can you put em on a hand if they don't know themselves" Well I think thats bollox in the main. The reason I lose at that level is that *I* play badly there. The buy in isn't enough to hold my attention, even with my restricted bankroll. *I* don't respect their raises. Snap calling "obvious river bluffs" when in reality they have hit their runner runner straight after they called a 6bb PF raise wit 47off and that is why they are pushing. It's because they hold the nuts!

I have since made the cashback at the rate of a couple of $$ per hour sat on the 10c20c tables where I have some focus :-)
Not going brilliantly though. It's quite disheartening when 1 table has loads of folks donating $$ and the other bleeding cash. So often I have doubled up on 1, via lots of small pots. However have dropped the same amount on the other, where it seems I cant catch a card and the table has the one calling station that is in every single pot with me so bluffs fail every time. Oh and I get a walk in the bb everytime I hold AA, KK.
Not planning on trying 3 tables just yet, It may flatten that feelling out but I don't think I am ready for that. I have tried in the past and it usually isn't pretty.

Enjoy it while it lasts

I like it when Graphs look like this.
This is the whole of my play for Jan, except for maybe 100 hands on the laptop that I will import later, probably only a $4 profit on there.
Kinda embarrassing to post a 1200 hand graph when others are posting 10K graphs every other day, but hey I have a kid who likes to push me off the PC to play on the Peppa Pig website (If ever there was an argument for a Bacon Buttie it's that pig). So essentially if the boy is awake I play no cards. Incidentally if you do ever play with me and suddenly the chatbox fills with "iuawdhfsah" I am not having some sort of fit, he has woken up and is button mashing.

I am in no way kidding myself that this is anything other than positive variance, $45 profit is purely from winning a flip AIPF. However Frankly I dont give a s**t I just like looking at it :-)

Given that a lot of this is from a microgaming site, and I dont trust em as far as I can throw em, I have withdrawn a fair wedge and it is now somewhere in their "reverse withdrawal" hell. Waiting to get to neteller. Why in Deities name would I want to reverse a withdrawal? I cant remember a single situation where I have walked upto a cash point, put my card in then changed my mind. If I can deposit instantly then I see no reason why you cant give me my bloody cash back!

Nowt happening much

So whilst I am keen I thought I would add a post. Not that I have much to add.
A third ill advised over bankroll expedition to 25c50c resulted in another double up. So I think I will call it a day for doing that for a bit :-)
Dropped down to 10c20c that I am just about rolled for. SO if this session goes well that will be a nice way to continue.
I was paid today for October So I am only 2 months behind now! WOO!

Turns out they are in debt to the Taxman, and he is a lot less reasonable than me. Has even threatened to wind up the business. If they do that is cool, 'cause although I am broke, healthcare lending is still ok so I could buy the business. Their group sucks but my clinic is profitable.

Just stacked someone on a suckout as I type hehe. Mini heater going on at the mo. Gonna come down with a nasty bump soon. Hope it happens on a 5c10c table

Post one. Why am I here

Hi ho neighbours!

Ok so here is my new blog. It isnt my only blog, the other one is a bit more personal than this one. Tends to have most entries locked to people I actually know and such.
So why do I need another?
Primarily this is going to be my poker blog as most of my friends who read my personal blog are not that bothered about the game (odd that innit)?

So anyway in Jan 2009 I have hit a bit of a cash flow problem. The place where I work is owned by a group of South Africans and so their management style is a touch "hands off" Being on a separate continent and all. The upshot is that the group is failing and I haven't been paid since October. Therefore my recreational poker has hit a major stumbling block in that I can't reload. Bummer that.

So seeing as I didn't really have a huge amount held online I have decided to start a new database in Holdem Manager, and drop down to the low levels. Therefore using this time as a means to learn "proper" poker at last.

I don't play a lot so this isn't going to be a meteroric rise up the levels. This is still meant to be fun after all!

Up to this point I have been playing 5c10c mainly, with 2 short interludes at 25c50c purely to clear a bonus. I played like an absolute nit on the whole and allowed the table to provide me with my raked hands. 2 good situations allowed me to double up so Now I have quite a reasonable profit posted which will allow me to be comfortable at 5c10c with 10c20c close at hand.

Here we go.
